How to check a bearing manufacturer before you order
A genuine manufacturer can usually answer these directly; a reseller often has to ask its own supplier and get back to you later:
- Ask which bearing types come off its own lines. A factory names the types it grinds and assembles itself; a reseller lists everything it can source.
- Ask for the material certificate. A factory holds the steel maker’s GCr15 certificate for its own production batches.
- Ask for a pre-shipment inspection report on a sample or first batch. Dimensions, radial clearance, rotation noise and appearance should be on it, with a batch reference. If you hold samples from several factories, weigh them on one scale; that is how a hollow brass cage was caught in 2016.
- Ask whether marking and packaging can be set to your specification. A factory can mark rings and cartons to your brand or neutral marking; a reseller is limited to what its own supplier already produced.
