Tolerances and fits for 6206
FULI makes 6206 to P0 as standard, with P6 on request. P0 is the Normal tolerance class of ISO 492; P6 limits are tighter. These are the P0 limits for the 30 × 62 × 16 mm size.
| Dimension | Nominal, mm | Deviation, µm | Limits, mm |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bore d (Δdmp) | 30 | 0 / −10 | 30.000 / 29.990 |
| Outside diameter D (ΔDmp) | 62 | 0 / −13 | 62.000 / 61.987 |
| Width B (ΔBs) | 16 | 0 / −120 | 16.000 / 15.880 |
Δdmp and ΔDmp: deviation of the mean bore and mean outside diameter in one radial plane. ΔBs: inner ring width; the outer ring width has the same limits.
Shaft and housing fits (general guidance)
For an inner ring that turns with a solid steel shaft under normal load, bearing makers’ fit tables give 30 k5 for the shaft of 6206. The housing bore is usually H7, or J7 where the outer ring must not creep.
| Seat | Deviation, µm | Limits, mm | Fit with 6206 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shaft 30 k5 | +11 / +2 | 30.011 / 30.002 | 2 to 21 µm interference |
| Housing 62 H7 | +30 / 0 | 62.030 / 62.000 | 0 to 43 µm clearance |
| Housing 62 J7 | +18 / −12 | 62.018 / 61.988 | 12 µm interference to 31 µm clearance |
Taking the loosest and the tightest combination of limits, a P0 6206 on a 30 mm k5 shaft has 2 to 21 µm interference. Its outer ring has 0 to 43 µm clearance in an H7 bore and 12 µm interference to 31 µm clearance in a J7 bore.
This is general guidance, not a FULI specification. Heavy or shock loads, a hollow shaft, a thin-walled, split or light-alloy housing, or a large temperature difference between shaft and housing call for other classes, and the drawing of your machine takes priority. A tight shaft fit or a hot housing uses up internal clearance, and that is when C3 is chosen instead of C0.
If the outer ring turns and the shaft stands still, as in an idler pulley or a wheel hub, the fits are reversed: the housing gets the interference fit (for example N7 or P7) and the shaft a sliding one (g6 or h6).

The 6206 bearing dimensions are 30 mm bore, 62 mm outside diameter and 16 mm width. It is the deep groove ball bearing for a 30 mm shaft in the 6200 series, and it turns up in electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, fans and some propshaft centre supports. This page explains the designation, gives the catalog figures for our 6206, and lists the size mix-ups that come with a 62 mm outside diameter, which is shared by more bearings than most buyers expect.
6206 bearing dimensions explained
A 6206 is a single row deep groove ball bearing in the 02 dimension series. The 6 is the bearing type, the 2 is the diameter series and 06 is the bore code [1]. From code 04 upwards the bore is the code times 5, so 06 means 30 mm [1].
The boundary dimensions follow the ISO 15 general plan [2], so 30 x 62 x 16 mm is the same in every catalogue.
In inches the 6206 is 1.1811 x 2.4409 x 0.6299 in. Our catalog gives a basic dynamic load rating Cr of 17.55 kN, a static rating C0r of 10.85 kN and limiting speeds of 10,000 r/min with grease and 12,000 r/min with oil. Values from FULI’s catalog; confirm for your application.
Each 6206 weighs 0.199 kg in our catalog, so 100 pieces are about 19.9 kg before boxes and cartons. At this size the weight starts to matter for freight. A carton of a few hundred 6206 bearings is heavier than a carton of the same count of 6203s, and our bearing weight chart helps when you plan a mixed order.
6206 load rating next to the alternatives
For a 30 mm shaft, our catalog figures are:
| Model | Size (mm) | Cr (kN) | C0r (kN) | Weight (kg) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6006 | 30 x 55 x 13 | 11.88 | 7.97 | 0.116 |
| 6206 | 30 x 62 x 16 | 17.55 | 10.85 | 0.199 |
| 6306 | 30 x 72 x 19 | 24.03 | 14.40 | 0.345 |
| 6406 | 30 x 90 x 23 | 43.50 | 23.90 | 0.735 |
Values from FULI’s catalog; confirm for your application.
The 6206 gives about 48% more dynamic rating than the 6006 for 7 mm more outside diameter. On a motor or pump being redesigned, that is often the step that matters. On a replacement, keep the size the housing was bored for.
6206ZZ, 6206-2RS or open
| Version | Cover | Typical 6206 position |
|---|---|---|
| 6206 open | None | Gearbox shafts in oil, motors with grease nipples |
| 6206ZZ | Two non-contact steel shields | Motors and fans in clean, dry places |
| 6206-2RS | Two rubber contact seals, greased | Pumps, propshaft centre supports, dusty or wet places |
Sealed bearings keep dirt out better than shielded ones, and shielded better than open [3]. An open 6206 in a motor with a grease nipple is meant to be relubricated. Replacing it with a 2RS stops the new grease from reaching the balls.
Makers write the suffixes differently. SKF uses 6206-2RS1 for the bearing with two contact seals and 6206-2Z for two shields. Our SKF cross-reference and 6200 series cross-reference list the common codes.
6206 clearance: what to write on the order
A bearing with no clearance suffix is Normal clearance, CN or C0. For a bore over 24 up to 30 mm, which covers the 6206, NTN’s table gives C2 as 1 to 11 μm, CN as 5 to 20 μm and C3 as 13 to 28 μm [4].
Timken gives Normal and C3 as its standard values for radial ball bearings and recommends C3 for bearings with an outside diameter above 52 mm [6]. The 6206 is 62 mm across, so it falls on the C3 side of that line. This is one maker’s practice, not a rule. NSK lists the conditions that call for larger clearance: tight fits on both rings, an inner ring hotter than the outer, heavy or shock loads and high speeds [5].
In practice, copy the clearance from the old bearing. Clearance is set on automatic assembly equipment in our factory and checked periodically during production. It cannot be changed afterwards, so write it in the order code, for example 6206-2RS C3. Our article on bearing internal clearance explains how the fits use up part of it.
Where the 6206 is used
These positions are listed on our application pages:
- Electric motor bearings: the 30 mm shaft line, with the 6306 as the heavier option.
- Water pump bearings: the same 30 mm line, usually sealed when the bearing is near the shaft seal.
- Gearbox bearings: shafts in small reducers, where a tapered roller bearing of the same outside diameter may sit next to it.
- Fan and blower bearings: the 30 mm line of the size table.
- Carrier bearings: a 6206 with two rubber seals appears among replacement centre support bearings.
For a propshaft centre support, decide first whether you need the bearing alone or the complete assembly with bracket and rubber cushion. The bearing alone needs only the size and seal type. The assembly needs the bracket dimensions as well.
Common 6206 ordering mistakes
The 30206 has the same bore and outside diameter. The 30206 tapered roller bearing is 30 x 62 x 17.25 mm. For the same bore code, a 30200 tapered bearing has the same outside diameter as the 6200 ball bearing. A housing bored for one has the right diameter for the other. The tapered bearing has a separate cone and cup and needs a partner bearing and an endplay setting. Keep to the type the machine was designed with. Our gearbox bearings page has the full table.
Other bearings with a 62 mm outside diameter. The 6305 is 25 x 62 x 17 mm. The 6007 is 35 x 62 x 14 mm. The 6403 is 17 x 62 x 17 mm. All of them fit a 62 mm housing, and none of them fits a 30 mm shaft. Measure the bore and the width, not only the outside diameter.
Same 30 mm bore, other series. Our specification sheet lists 6806 (30 x 42 x 7), 6906 (30 x 47 x 9), 16006 (30 x 55 x 9), 6006, 6206, 6306 and 6406 on the same shaft.
Insert bearing in place of a 6206. The UC206 also has a 30 mm bore, but it is a wide inner ring bearing with set screws, mounted in a housing unit. It is a different part.
Letters left off. An inquiry that says only “6206” gets a quote for the open bearing with Normal clearance. Write the seal or shield code and the clearance group in full. If the shaft has a second bearing, put both numbers in the same inquiry, because the two ends are often different sizes. Our guide on how to avoid ordering the wrong bearing goes through the common suffixes.
How to measure a 6206
- Clean the bearing and measure the bore at two points, 90° apart: 30 mm.
- Measure the outside diameter at two points: 62 mm.
- Measure the width across both rings: 16 mm.
- Read the ring face or shield for the designation and suffix letters.
- Check the cover on each side, and check whether the inner and outer rings separate. A deep groove ball bearing does not come apart. A tapered roller bearing does.
If you get 30, 62 and 16 mm, it is a 6206 whatever the brand on the ring. For other combinations, our bearing size finder finds the size from the measurements.
How we supply the 6206
Our 6206 rings and balls are GCr15 chrome bearing steel, and the steel maker’s material certificate is available on request for OEM and industrial orders. Precision is P0 as standard, P6 on request.
Sealed and shielded 6206 bearings are greased to about 30% of the free space inside the bearing. We set the filling machine by weighing sample bearings before and after filling. If your old bearing had a different fill or a grease for a particular temperature, tell us in the inquiry and we will confirm what we can supply.
Deep groove ball bearings are tested on vibration and noise instruments and shipped at Z3V3 as standard. Before shipment each batch is checked for rotation smoothness, dimensions, grease fill, rust and appearance. Boxes show the model, grade and brand. Rings carry your authorised brand, our factory brand or no brand, as you require. If your parts list has an OEM number for this position, send it and we will confirm the standard model before quoting.

FAQ
What size is a 6206 bearing?
30 mm bore, 62 mm outside diameter and 16 mm width, or 1.1811 x 2.4409 x 0.6299 in. The size follows the ISO 15 general plan, so it is the same from every maker.
Can I use a 6206 in place of a 30206?
Usually not. Both are 30 mm bore and 62 mm outside diameter, but the 30206 is a tapered roller bearing, 17.25 mm wide, chosen for axial load and set against a partner bearing. A ball bearing in that position carries less load and changes how the shaft is located.
Should a 6206 be C3?
It depends on the fits, the temperature and the load. Timken recommends C3 for its radial ball bearings above 52 mm outside diameter, and the 6206 is 62 mm. If the old bearing is marked C3, order C3. If it carries no clearance mark, it is Normal clearance.
How much does a 6206 bearing weigh?
0.199 kg each in FULI's catalog, about 19.9 kg per 100 pieces before packing.
What is the SKF equivalent of 6206-2RS?
SKF writes the sealed version as 6206-2RS1. The boundary dimensions are the same 30 x 62 x 16 mm. Our SKF cross-reference page lists the suffixes.
