Bearing Packaging for Export
What to agree on bearing packaging for export: box printing, ring marking, shipping marks, weight and documents, and what to put in your order.
Bearing packaging has two jobs: keep the bearings free of rust and damage for weeks at sea, and tell everyone who handles the goods what is inside. Both have to be agreed before production, because marking happens before packing. This page covers what you need to decide: box printing, ring marking, shipping marks, weight, documents, and how to state your packing requirement in the order.
What to decide about packaging
| Item | What to decide |
|---|---|
| Rust protection | Mention long storage, humid climates or slow sea routes |
| Packing | Individual boxes or another packing method; tell us what you need |
| Box printing | Model, grade and brand; your artwork if printed |
| Ring marking | Your authorized brand, the factory brand or neutral |
| Shipping marks | The marks your importer and warehouse need |
| Pallets or cases | Any pallet type or case your import rules call for |
Tell us how you need the bearings packed and we will confirm whether we can supply it and what it adds to the price. A buyer who sells bearings one by one usually wants a box per bearing that carries the brand. An equipment maker who fits hundreds of the same size on a line may have no use for single boxes. Say which applies to you.
Tapered roller bearings usually leave the factory with rust protection only, not grease. They are greased when they are installed. Sealed deep groove ball bearings are already greased; our default fill is about 30% of the free internal space unless the order asks for something else.
Ring marking and box printing
Two places carry the brand: the bearing ring itself and the box.
- Ring marking is on the side face of the ring, or on the shield or seal. As the customer requests, it can be the customer’s authorized brand, the factory brand or neutral marking.
- Box printing shows the model, the grade and the brand. Buyers often add their own part number or a barcode.
If you want your brand on the ring or box, send the artwork with the order.
Neutral marking is common for wholesalers who sell under more than one label and for equipment makers who fit the bearing inside their own product.
Shipping marks: what to put on the carton
Shipping marks let your warehouse, the forwarder and customs identify each carton without opening it. A typical set for a bearing order:
- Consignee name or short code.
- Destination port and final destination.
- Order or PO number.
- Carton number out of total, for example 12/40.
- Contents, for example “Ball bearings 6205-2RS, 200 pcs”.
- Country of origin: Made in China.
- Gross weight and net weight in kg.
- Carton dimensions.
Your importer or customs broker may need specific items, such as the importer’s registration number or a country-of-origin line in a set format. Send the requirements with the order. Marks printed after packing are harder to correct than marks agreed in advance.
Weight: the packaging limit you hit first
Bearings are dense. A carton of medium deep groove ball bearings gets heavy long before it is full, so it makes sense to pack by weight rather than by volume. A shipment of bearings is also heavy for its size, which matters for LCL freight charged by weight or volume and for container weight limits. Use the bearing weight chart to estimate the weight of each size before you plan the shipment, and see the FOB vs CIF guide for how weight affects LCL and FCL freight.
Wood packaging rules
Solid wood pallets and cases used in international shipping generally have to be treated and stamped under ISPM 15. Rules vary, so check your country’s import requirements. If you need a particular pallet or case, ask us and we will confirm whether we can supply it.
Documents that match the packaging
The packing list ties the cartons to the invoice: carton numbers, models and quantities in each carton, net and gross weight, and dimensions. Shipments from FULI come with a commercial invoice, packing list and CCPIT certificate of origin, plus an FTA Form COO where the destination country qualifies.
The HS code on the invoice should match what is inside. Your customs broker will confirm the HS code for each item. Our bearing HS code guide lists the six-digit codes by bearing type.
What to specify in your order
- Packing: individual boxes or another method you need.
- Ring marking: your authorized brand, the factory brand or neutral.
- Box artwork, if printed, and any barcode or part number.
- Shipping marks, as your importer needs them.
- Any pallet, case or wood treatment your import rules require.
- Any special rust protection, for example for long storage.
We confirm what we can supply for each item before production. Before shipment we check rotation smoothness, dimensions, grease fill, rust and appearance. Send your packaging requirements with the inquiry to sales@fuli-bearings.com or through the contact page.
